- Agnes Turkington died in 1903 leaving five children under ten years old.
- Robert was hospitalised between 16th July 1915 and 6th August 1916 with pleurisy.
- Robert was discharged from the army on 3rd January 1917 and declared no longer fit for service at home or abroad. He had contracted tuberculosis in his lung. He died three months later.
