The first trip of the new season will be to the Moyle Interconnector substation which is near Ballylumford Power Station on Islandmagee. This site is where the Northern Ireland electricity network interfaces with the Scottish electricity network via submarine cables. The visitors will be able to see the equipment involved and Sam Gibson, manager of the site, will explain how it all works as it helps to secure a robust and reliable electricity supply with benefits for people on both sides of the Irish Sea.
The facility is managed by Mutual Energy - follow this link to find out more; Mutual Energy
The visit will start at 6:30pm at the interconnector site so everyone will need to leave the church car park by 5:45pm.
